Day 11...choo choo!

Well, if the traffic wasn't terrible at this time of the day I'd drive over to the end of the Trans-Siberian Railway and take a picture of my train...

Since it is terrible, you'll just have to settle for this:
Just imagine it covered with snow...the way all trains in Vladivostok will be soon! :)

This was really fun! Thanks again, Sherry! :)

Day 10

Well, I think there can be few doubts about the train now, but who knows...

Fun fun!

Day 9 - My daughter's guesses

My 14 year old daughter decided to have a few guesses.

First we have the very popular train.

Next is a stylish hair dryer.

We also have a girly cocktail drink complete with umbrella and swirly straw.

And finally, a canon with a very long fuse. She can be a bit of a tom-boy. LOL

Those 2 chains with the SLT in between were more troublesome than I would have thought.  I'm eagerly awaiting Day 10 and so is my daughter.

Catching up...

Well, I wanted to do this day by day, without having to play "catch-up," but a late-scheduled Explorer's Day weekend excursion to Hong Kong put me a couple days behind...

So, better late than never, here is my Day 8:

And then Day 9:
I agree with most people, I think it will turn out to be some kind of buggy or train...although from this angle it looks like a snail with his tongue stuck out. :-P

Playing Catch-Up

I am happy to say that I am completely caught up now (and hope to stay that way). I still have no clue what we are making, but I have to say I loved the ballgown idea that Grace shared!

Day 7 (Already?!)

Well, here's my day 7:

I still have no idea what it is (maybe a tractor?)

Day 6

Yay! Day 6!

As you might have noticed, I actually left off the last ring...the pattern calls for all of today's rings to be 1-6-1, but the picture shows the last ring without the second picot, so I wasn't sure...
So instead of risking un-tatting (something I find to be very irksome with the shuttles) I decided to wait on that final ring until Day 7 is published. :)

I still have no idea what it is...maybe a little piggie? The initial motif could be the head, the first curley-q the tail, and the second the hind legs?

Eh, probably not! :)

Day 5, From Russia With Love

Sorry about the Bond quote, I couldn't resist...you had to know it was coming!) :)

So, here we are at Day 5:

Maybe it's a unicyclist?

I think it's interesting how some of our chains are curved, and some are almost straight. It is truly fascinating to me to see how so many people tat the same exact pattern...so fun!

Thanks again for the TIAS, Sherry. I hope you are loving your vacation! :)

Day Four

Well, here I am with my boring beige elephant (or whatever it is!) :)
Mine doesn't seem to be as curved as everyone else's...hope that doesn't come back to bite me later! :)

Also, in case anyone else's computer wouldn't just follow the link to the tutorial, here it is:

The weather is starting to turn winter-y here in Russia...hope the rest of you are still keeping your lovely fallish temperatures! :)

Day 3

Well, I think I will have to concede, it's not an eye...

Although it still looks a little like it could be. :)

Maybe a bicycle wheel?
We'll see...

Also, thanks to Jane for that simple lock join explanation...I love learning new techniques! :)

Days 1 & 2

This is Grace in Singapore.
Well, I was late with Day 1, but here I am with Day 2 already! :-) I'm using Lizbeth Caribbean, Size 20.

Guesses? Well, after Day 1 I thought it looked like a flower, or perhaps the innards of a caterpillar. But now I think it might look like the skirt of a crinoline lady.

TIAS - Day One - Natalie

You can find the pattern for day one here: http://ladyshuttlemaker.blogspot.com/2013/09/tias-day-one.html

Today's pattern bit was very straight forward. The most challenging part for me in this section was the measured mock picot. It took me a few tries to figure out how to hold my gauge and get the distance right. I don't normally tat with picot gauges - so that may take some getting used to. The only thing I'm not happy with is that the first picot twisted - I'm hoping there is a join to that picot later on that will correct that issue. I don't have any guesses yet as to what the finished pattern might be.

EDIT:
So I definitely made 1/2" picots yesterday, using my picot gauge vertically. So with Sherry's announcement this morning that the picots should be 1/4", I had a bit of fun retro tatting. Each time I practice taking out a ring it seems to get easier. I managed to undo all of yesterday's work so that I could re-tat Day One. So here it is, in all it's 1/4" picot-y goodness.
